Taos Center for the Arts and Harwood Museum of Art present the Outriders Film Series exploring representations of Black cowboys on the big screen from the 1930s to today. Black Rodeo captures the exuberance surrounding the performance of the first all African-American rodeo at Triborough Stadium on Randall’s Island, New York. Featuring music by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Little Richard, among others, Jeff Kanauw’s film includes an interview with Woody Strode and footage of Muhammed Ali riding a horse down 125th Street.
