Event Details

Taos Center for the Arts and Harwood Museum of Art present the Outriders Film Series exploring representations of Black cowboys on the big screen from the 1930s to today. Harlem Rides the Range features an all-Black cast starring Herb Jeffries’ as Harlem, a cowboy trying to help a homesteader from being cheated out of his property. Made when audiences and films were largely segregated by race, this was among the first Black westerns created during the Golden Age of Hollywood.
