This immersive workshop explores mindful process-based movement practices with Nadine Lollino, artistic director of local performance collective, MovementLab. Offering a deep-dive into this generative process, a framework is created from which what you discover can emerge through curiosity and experimentation instead of from choreography.

Our goal is to reinhabit our expressive self through the use of creative movement, sensory imagination, memory, emotions, drawing/writing, and natural elements. This weekend will focus on nature’s adaptability, interconnectivity, and impermanence, and their connection to our human experience. This creative and therapeutic approach to reconnecting with our genuine self exists beyond the studio, it becomes a toolset for a more authentic and adaptable perspective to daily life and our relationships with self, others and place.

MovementLab’s work is rooted in diverse modalities, including meditation, yoga, poetry, qigong, modern dance, improvisation, Butoh, and expressive therapies. All you need is the willingness to be amazed. Previous experience is unnecessary.

Class will be held at the Center for Creative Learning, at the Harwood Museum, Taos New Mexico

Coming from out of town:

There is a kitchen on site, bring your own lunch or walk to a nearby spot to eat. If you are joining from out of town, you can fly to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or to the Taos Regional Airport. Renting a car is the easiest way to get around, or a shuttle to take you to Taos. Accommodations can be found at various hotels within walking distance to the Harwood Museum (including Hotel Willa, or La Fonda). If you have a car, consider one of the alternative spaces like Luna Mystica (a vintage trailer hotel) or the “space cabins” at Luxx Lodge. There are also many airbnb options.
