Join us to kick off the Frank Morgan Jazz Festival with Lorca Hart Trio with Nicolas Bearde. Joining them on the Arthur Bell Auditorium stage will be musicians Josh Nelson on the piano and Mike Glynn on bass.

Born and raised in Taos, drummer Lorca Hart built his career in California’s Bay Area. He has performed in a vast array of musical situations, working with many of the West Coast’s (and beyond) finest artists including Bobby Hutcherson, Ralph Moore, Carmen Lundy, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Jordan, Julian Lage, Hugh Masekela, Kenny Washington and vocalist, Nicolas Bearde.

Lorca and Bearde recorded “I Remember You, Music of Nat King Cole” in 2019, to critical acclaim:“From the opening title track, everything is fine and mellow. Completely avoiding kitschy Cole, Bearde soothes, seduces, and cements his place as an inheritor of Nat King Cole’s cool.”
– Dan Bilasky, All About Jazz

“Where jazz intersects soul, there are few more satisfying stylists than Nicolas Bearde, a richly impressive amalgam of Bill Withers and Billy Eckstine.”

– Christopher Loudon, Jazz Times

This concert is presented in collaboration with the Taos Jazz Bebop Society with generous support provided by the Siegel Foundation.
