Artist Statement

Taos and its rural life taught me to enjoy nature in ways that I had not previously experienced, and my environs became the subject of my efforts.  I am intrigued by the play of light and the extraordinary colors this “Enchanted New Mexico” offers as well as the shapes and forms of its landscapes.  These attributes have inspired me to translate on to paper, a moment or an instant that has drawn my attention and impressed an image into my psyche. My response to my surroundings has always been emotional.

I returned to drawing when I first started on this path and then reacquainted myself with printmaking. I love the immediacy of the printmaking process and am challenged by the many technical intricacies that are required to achieve a desired effect. Combining then the ink and drawing into my prints, the directness of this practice continues to spark curiosity and engagement into an ever enlarging and widening art practice.

Jane received her BA in French from Rosary College in River Forest, IL, and focused on Metal Design during three years of study in the art department of the University of Oklahoma.
