Artist Statement

At seven years old, I received my first camera.  A Brownie Hawkeye purchased with Lipton Teabag tags. I took photographs of odd things my mother said, and I liked that.

I grew up in Colorado, then in my early twenties, moved to Sanibel Island, Florida, where I continued photographing in the jungle. I loved the lack of light under the canopy of trees. Then in the ’80s, I moved to Taos, where there was anything but a lack of light. I had to learn to see differently. So much light!

I am self-taught with the help of many books and much trial and error. I have had the opportunity to work with many incredible artists over the years, which of course, always helps seeing in different ways.
