Taos Chamber Music Group celebrates the Harwood Museum of Art Centennial and culmination of their 30th Anniversary Season with a ground-breaking commission. GRAMMY® Award-winning musician, actor, artist, storyteller, Taos Pueblo Elder and longtime TCMG collaborator, Robert Mirabal, comes together with his longtime collaborator, the GRAMMY® Award-winning, genre-defying, New York-based string quartet, ETHEL, to compose and premiere a new work for string quartet and Native American Flute, Song for Taos, a deeply personal tribute to the spirit and history of Robert’s ancestral home.

The world-premiere of this commission will be presented as part of a larger program of the same name. The quintet offers a unique expression celebrating twelve years of friendship and collaboration, as Mirabal and ETHEL come together gratefully to, yet again, reimagine the concert experience. Drawing from their previous programs, Music of the Sun, and The River, as well as selections from ETHEL’s vast library of contemporary masterworks, Mirabal and ETHEL offer a new ceremony full of original music, movement, and wisdom, in honor of Taos Pueblo and the greater Taos community.

This program is presented in conjunction with the Harwood Centennial celebrations. At the request of Taos Chamber Music Group, masks are encouraged at this program.
