Event Details

Immerse yourself in the landscape that inspired Georgia O’Keeffe to paint her masterpiece, The Lawrence Tree, in 1929. Currently featured in the Harwood Centennial exhibition, O’Keeffe’s portrait of a magnificent ponderosa pine will serve as inspiration for taking a fresh perspective on landscape painting.

Following in the footsteps of generations of great landscape painters, the class will meet for 4 hours of guided plein air painting at the D.H. Lawrence Ranch where Georgia O’Keeffe painted The Lawrence Tree. The class will include a discussion of the work that inspired the location, an overview of techniques and painting strategy, and a live Q & A demo. If you choose to paint along during the workshop – which is not required some individualized instruction based on your goals as a painter will be offered as well.
