Comanche filmmaker Julianna Brannum’s documentary chronicles the life of Comanche activist and national civil rights leader, LaDonna Harris, and the role that she has played fighting segregation and assisting grassroots Native and women’s groups. Over the course of her career, Harris furthered programs and legislation protected tribal lands and natural resources. She was among many who successfully lobbied Congress and the White House for the return of Blue Lake to Taos Pueblo. Currently, Harris works to strengthen Native communities and inspire future leaders and activists through her organization, Americans for Indian Opportunity.
The Taos Center for the Arts will host a Drive-in showing of LaDonna Harris: Indian 101 Friday, April 8 at 7:45pm. Get your tickets at https://tcataos.org/calendar/.
