LaDonna Harris: Indian 101

In conjunction with the exhibition Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of The Return of Blue Lake to Taos Pueblo: A New Day for American Indians, the Harwood Museum is offering on-demand, virtual screenings of LaDonna Harris: Indian 101, a documentary directed by Julianna Brannum.

Comanche filmmaker Julianna Brannum’s documentary chronicles the life of Comanche activist and national civil rights leader, LaDonna Harris, and the role that she has played fighting segregation and assisting grassroots Native and women’s groups. Over the course of her career, Harris furthered programs and legislation protected tribal lands and natural resources. She was among many who successfully lobbied Congress and the White House for the return of Blue Lake to Taos Pueblo. Currently, Harris works to strengthen Native communities and inspire future leaders and activists through her organization, Americans for Indian Opportunity.
