Collections

The Harwood Museum of Art’s permanent collection includes over 6,500 works of art and archives including 17,000 historical photographs and artist records. Containing artworks from the 18th Century to the present, the museum’s art collection is a unique record of both the community’s rich multicultural heritage and Taos’ role in the development of seminal contemporary American art.

Art from our permanent collection rotates throughout our six permanent collection galleries, is incorporated into relevant Harwood exhibitions, and is loaned for other nationwide museum exhibitions. Our diverse art collection includes important artwork from the Taos Society of Artists and the Taos Moderns. Our collection includes historic and traditional Native American and Hispanic art as well as contemporary and cutting-edge art. Harwood’s art collection not only represents diverse artistic and cultural traditions but shows how these traditions have influenced each other. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the Harwood stewards a premier regional art collection of national importance.
