The Live Action category features provocative films that investigate varying facets of our human nature. Denmark’s “On My Mind” explores the intricacies of a barmaid’s compassion for a customer and the hostility of her financially conscious boss. A professional is arrested by a drone in the witty science fiction short “Please Hold.” Swiss film “Ala Kachuu – Take and Run” depicts the oppression of forced Kyrgyzstan marriages through the eyes of a nineteen-year-old. Wedding preparations spiral into a fascist attack in “The Long Good Bye.” And finally, “The Dress” tells the story of an inexperienced motel employee whose sense of self is compromised by a dashing truck driver. This evening promises to evoke a range of emotions and insights.
