Cool School Art, Kachinas and a weekend at Trinchera Ranch are Highlights of Museum Art Auction

Harwood Museum of Art plans second annual “Bash at the Blake” fundraiser gala and art auction at Taos Ski Valley’s newest hotel.

Taos N.M. May 2, 2018 – Larry Bell, Ronald Davis and Ken Price are ex-pat L.A. artists whose work will be featured in “The Bash at The Blake,” a gala art event and auction on June 23, 2018 that will benefit the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos.  In addition to works by these Cool School era L.A. artists, the Bash will auction a 5-foot, 388-degree panoramic photograph by Gus Foster of Blanca Peak and paintings by Robert Daughters (1929-2013) and Emil Bisttram (1895 – 1976). The Trinchera Ranch is set on a 267-square-mile area of Costilla County Colorado. The Trinchera getaway auction lot includes guided fly fishing in an area not open to the public. All auction items will beposted on the museum's website as they are confirmed.

The auction will be held at The Blake, Taos Ski Valley’s newest hotel, opened in February 2017.  The Blake itself has a museum quality collection of works including works by early Taos Society of Artists and Taos Moderns as well as photography and Pan-Tribal pottery and textiles.  The Blake’s art collection is but a single thread in a tapestry of architecture and design that celebrates and pays homage to the many historical and cultural influences unique to Taos and to Northern New Mexico.  The Blake staff will provide guided tours of the collection prior to the event.  Harwood Bash attendees are being offered a special group rates, valid June 20 – 26. Taos Ski Valley Weekend Packages are also available through The Blake. Contact the hotel at 888-569-1756.
Bash at The Blake tickets are $175 per person, with table and sponsor packages available at harwoodmusuem.org/bash-at-the-blake. Auction items can be previewed (or purchased on site) at the museum from June 17 to 232, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Remote phone bids accepted, call 575-758-9826 ext 105 to make arrangements.
