Jazz: Lorca Hart Trio

Arthur Bell Auditorium

High expectations are in order for Lorca Hart Trio, led by Hart, who has played with Kyle Eastwood and Hugh Masekela, the Clayton Brothers and Anthony Wilson. On piano, Josh Nelson will supply his melodic and swinging touch. Josh was Natalie Cole's pianist for years and is one of the most sought-after musicians internationally. Rounding out the trio is internationally known bassist Gary Brown. Brown has become a phenomenal voice in the jazz world touring with Pharaoh Sanders, Steve Winwood, Lou Rawls and Pete Escovedo. Notably, the trio is currently recording with Kenny Washington.

Drummer Lorca Hart grew up in Taos, New Mexico in a musical family. He was exposed to a variety of instruments and musical styles as a child but early on it became clear that the drumset was his passion. In high school he started to perform and focus on Jazz. He attended California Institute of the Arts from 1992-96, studying with Albert "Tootie" Heath, Joe La Barbera, Charlie Haden, Wadada Leo Smith, and many others.

Tickets are $20 and $16 for museum members, doors open at 7:00pm
