Concert: An Evening with Ricky and the Re - Rites
We are six old friends who come together twice a month to share stories from our lives and play music for fun. Music has been and still is a vital part of our lives and we want to share and celebrate the role music has played along the way.
What began years ago with three friends playing in the back of the Brodsky Bookshop now includes six gents (with occasional guests) exploring the boundaries of musicianship and friendship. Although often asked, we've never appeared in public so this is a very special event. We don’t take ourselves very seriously as we are more interested in the process of music-making rather than a finished product. We laugh and joke about the lack of clean beginnings and endings, and our unruly approach to conventional group dynamics results in a very unstructured and improvisational approach to music making. Sometimes our music sounds like a million dollars, other times like a couple of pennies. For this event we'll shoot for the sound of a shiny dime. But none of that matters in the end. We share the vision of the Taos Youth Music School that music is a catalyst for inspiration, and creative expression.
Tickets are $20 for general, $16 for museum members and youth under 14 years of age. Doors open at 6:30
