Bringing Mabel Dodge Luhan to Life through Opera

Harwood Museum of Art, Arthur Bell Auditorium

New York City-based and award-winning composer and librettist Nell Shaw Cohen (Composers & the Voice Fellow, American Opera Projects) sheds light on the process of creating her new chamber opera, which follows Mabel Dodge Luhan’s journey of self-reinvention and her circle of modernists in Taos.

A talk by the composer will accompany this concert of several scenes and arias from the opera-in-progress, given by performers whose credits include The Santa Fe Opera and major national and international venues. Soprano Shelley Jackson will sing the role of Mabel Dodge Luhan with tenor André García-Nuthmann as Maurice Sterne and baritone Carlos Archuleta as Tony Lujan, accompanied by music director Kristin Ditlow on piano.

Made possible with support from the Richard B. Siegel Foundation.

Ticket prices $20 General/ $16 Member.
